Using Scandinavia as an example, I checked the monthly temps using GISS maps and Climatereanalyzer and compared to snow extent, and discovered colder months equate with more snow, warm months less snow.

NCDC temperature data (cooling NH land temperatures)

Twenty year trend for NH land is cooling, mostly from the February trend.  Ocean trend is warming. Combined is cooling.
